Solvera Introduces SIIT Scholarships

Date: Jan 10, 2012

Regina – Managing Principal Reg Robinson today announced two new scholarships for aboriginal students attending Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies (SIIT) programs in Information Technology. The two $2,000 Solvera scholarships – which will be matched by Saskatchewan Advanced Education, Employment and Immigration -- will be awarded annually by SIIT, based on the following selection factors: academic standing, financial need and extra-curricular community involvement.

The introduction of SIIT scholarships is the logical next step in Solvera’s support for aboriginal students in Information Technology and Solvera’s growing relationship with SIIT. “Within the IT sector, aboriginal professionals are well under-represented and one of the keys to achieving long-term progress is providing financial support to students as they complete their post-secondary education,” said Robinson. “Solvera is also pleased to be working with SIIT regarding potential co-op work/study assignments and, where possible, graduate employment opportunities.”

President and CEO of SIIT Randell Morris states, “it is always a great day when SIIT can partner with industry to benefit our students that have been and will continue to be part of the growing economy in Saskatchewan. We appreciate the contribution to our growing scholarship opportunities.”
